Deposits protect long colour appointments — but only when they’re transparent and fair.
Why deposits exist
A three-hour balayage blocks a chair that can’t always be refilled at one hour’s notice. Deposits compensate reasonable loss when clients cancel late.
What “fair” looks like
- Amount disclosed before you pay
- Credited to the service when you attend
- Scaled to service value and length
- Clear free-cancel window (e.g. 24–48 hours)
- No attempt to remove Australian Consumer Law rights
